How Much Does a Website Cost in Bulgaria in 2026?

From free DIY builders to custom-built platforms — a plain-English breakdown of web design pricing in Bulgaria so you know exactly what to expect.

If you've ever Googled "how much does a website cost" and come away more confused than when you started, you're not alone. Prices range from literally zero to tens of thousands of euros — and nobody explains why.

This guide breaks down every tier honestly, so you can make a smart decision for your business — whether you end up working with us or not.

The four main options

1. DIY website builders (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress.com)

Cost: €0–€40/month

These platforms let you drag and drop your way to a website with no coding needed. For a hobby or a very early-stage idea, they work fine.

The catch:You're renting, not owning. The moment you stop paying, your site disappears. They're slow (which hurts your Google ranking), they put their branding on your site unless you pay extra, and customisation hits a wall fast. When you want to grow, you'll likely need to start over.

2. A freelancer

Cost: €300–€2,000

A freelancer is usually a single developer or designer working independently. Quality varies enormously — the best freelancers are excellent; the worst will take your money and vanish.

The main risk is continuity. If your freelancer gets sick, takes on too many projects, or moves on, you're stuck. There's also rarely a process: no demo before commitment, no fixed timeline, no guarantee of what you'll actually get.

3. A small web studio (like Velora Solutions)

Cost: €300–€2,500

A small studio gives you the quality of an agency without the overhead. You get a structured process, real accountability, and — in our case — a custom visual demo of your site before you spend a euro.

Prices overlap with freelancers because the work is similar, but you're paying for a process, a team, and peace of mind. You get fixed pricing upfront, a defined timeline, and someone to call when something needs updating after launch.

4. A large agency

Cost: €5,000–€50,000+

Large agencies are built for large companies with complex requirements, brand teams, and big budgets. They have project managers, account managers, designers, and developers — all of which you're paying for, whether you need them or not.

For most small and local businesses, this is significant overkill. The €5,000 minimum usually gets you the same website a studio would deliver for €1,000 — just wrapped in more meetings and slide decks.

What actually drives the price up?

  • Number of pages — A 5-page showcase site costs far less than a 30-page content site.
  • Custom functionality — Online bookings, e-commerce, customer portals, integrations with third-party systems — each adds development time.
  • Design complexity — A unique, animated, brand-heavy design costs more than a clean, minimal layout.
  • Content creation — Writing the copy and providing photos is often left to the client. If you need the agency to do it, budget for it.
  • Ongoing maintenance — Some studios charge a monthly retainer for updates, hosting, and security. Others hand you the keys and walk away.

Red flags to watch out for

  • "We'll guarantee you #1 on Google" — Nobody can promise this. Run.
  • No contract or written agreement — Always get the scope, price, and timeline in writing.
  • No examples of their work— Any serious web professional has a portfolio. If they don't, ask why.
  • Full payment upfront — Reputable studios work with a deposit (typically 50%) and the rest on delivery.
  • They own your domain or hosting — Make sure your domain and any accounts are in your name. You should be able to take your site elsewhere if needed.
